Why We Are Recruiting Partners in Singapore
Singapore is a leading financial and business hub in Asia, home to numerous multinational corporations and high-net-worth individuals. As business and investment ties between Singapore and Japan continue to grow, so does the need for investigations related to investments in the Japanese market, corporate partnerships and M&A, as well as cross-border family disputes and debt-related matters.
However, when Singapore-based law firms, consultants, and private investigation agencies receive requests to investigate matters within Japan, they may have to decline these cases due to language barriers and the lack of a reliable local investigative network.
We aim to address this challenge and help Singapore-based professionals turn unmet demand for Japan-related investigations into a new source of revenue. We are therefore prioritizing the recruitment of exclusive Singapore-based official referral agents under our Global Liaison Partner program.
The Value of On-the-Ground Intelligence in Japan
Japan has strict legal requirements governing the handling of personal information. Overseas open-source intelligence (OSINT) and database searches alone may not provide sufficient information to establish the facts of a case. Depending on the circumstances, on-the-ground investigation may be necessary to obtain a more complete picture.
Founded in 1998, Detective Agency Japan (Tantei Hojin Chosashikai), registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission under Notification No. 30200224, is a specialist organization capable of conducting field investigations throughout Japan, including lawful surveillance, stakeouts, and inquiries, in compliance with applicable Japanese laws and regulations.
From verifying the actual operations of suspected shell companies to assessing an individual's lifestyle and gathering evidence of potential corporate misconduct, we obtain firsthand information that may not be available through online research alone. We provide English-language investigative reports designed to support overseas clients in legal proceedings, business negotiations, and risk assessment, subject to applicable laws and the requirements of the relevant proceedings.

Examples of Investigation Requests from Singapore
The following examples illustrate how our field investigation capabilities can support clients in Singapore. Any case studies published on this page should be based on actual cases and disclosed only with appropriate authorization.
Corporate Case Study: Pre-Investment Due Diligence on a Japanese Company
A Singapore-based investment fund requested an investigation into a Japanese IT startup it was considering investing in. Although the company's financial statements indicated strong business performance, our field investigation in Japan revealed discrepancies between the reported business activities and the company's actual operations.Through on-the-ground inquiries and verification of the company's business activities, we identified concerns regarding the scale of its operations and the sustainability of its business model. These findings were reported to the client through the referral agent, enabling the investment fund to reassess the potential risks before proceeding with an investment worth several million US dollars.
Personal Case Study: Identifying Potentially Undisclosed Assets in Japan
A client residing in Singapore sought assistance in connection with an international divorce. The client's former spouse had returned to Japan, claimed to have no assets, and refused to pay child support.Following a referral from a Singapore-based lawyer, we investigated the subject's circumstances in Japan. The investigation reportedly identified ownership of a luxury condominium and evidence of additional business income. These findings helped support the client's decision to pursue asset seizure or enforcement measures through the appropriate legal channels in Singapore.
