What Is a Global Liaison Partner?

The Global Liaison Partner program is an official alliance initiative designed to help clients in your country connect securely with Tantei Hojin Chosashikai Inc. for their investigation needs within Japan, enabling you to expand your business opportunities. The program is open to law firms and attorneys, private investigation agencies, business consultants, and companies with established expatriate networks around the world.

As a partner, your role is to conduct initial consultations with your clients and refer their cases to our company. From that point onward, our company, Tantei Hojin Chosashikai Inc., will work directly with the client to provide all required explanations, execute the service agreement, conduct the investigation, and deliver the final evidence report, in full compliance with Japan’s Detective Business Act. Partners are not required to assume any legal or contractual responsibilities associated with the investigation. When a referred case results in a signed engagement, we will pay the partner a referral fee (incentive) in accordance with our established terms.

The Value of Our On-the-Ground Intelligence in Japan

Due to language barriers, cultural differences, and Japan’s strict personal information protection and privacy laws, it can be extremely difficult for overseas professionals to obtain information directly within Japan. Founded in 1998 and registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission (Notification No. 30200224), Tantei Hojin Chosashikai Inc. conducts investigations in full compliance with Japanese law, obtaining on-the-ground intelligence and real-world insights that cannot be obtained through online research (OSINT) alone.

We conduct nationwide surveillance, physical monitoring, and discreet inquiries into targets located in Japan, supporting a wide range of needs, including due diligence for corporate mergers and acquisitions, background checks on corporate executives, evidence gathering in international divorce and hidden-asset cases, and verification of fraudulent businesses. We deliver high-quality evidence reports suitable for use in overseas legal proceedings and business negotiations.

By serving as your local investigative partner and operational team in Japan, we help you address your clients’ challenges effectively and provide reliable, on-the-ground support for cases involving Japan.

Case Studies & Partner Testimonials

Here are representative examples of investigations conducted in Japan in collaboration with our global partners. By navigating language barriers and Japan’s complex legal requirements, including privacy protection laws, we help our partners deliver reliable evidence to their clients.

Case Study 1: Due Diligence for an M&A Transaction Between a Foreign and Japanese Company

A European client was considering a business partnership with a Japanese manufacturing company. However, financial statements alone could not reveal the company’s actual operating conditions or provide sufficient insight into the background and associations of its representative, including potential ties to organized crime. Our team conducted on-site verification and discreet inquiries to gather field intelligence. The investigation uncovered serious issues that the target company had not disclosed, including unpaid obligations and workplace environment problems. Through the referring consultant, the client was able to avoid substantial investment risks before proceeding with the transaction.

Case Study 2: Investigation into Hidden Assets and Actual Living Circumstances in Japan in Connection with an International Divorce

An individual involved in divorce proceedings in the United States was suspected of concealing assets in Japan while falsely claiming to have no income. At the request of the U.S. law firm, we conducted an investigation into the individual’s activities in Japan. We obtained compelling evidence, including photographs and activity records, showing that the individual was residing in a luxury property and operating a business in Japan. We then submitted an investigation report in English. The findings became a key factor in securing more favorable terms during negotiations in the U.S. divorce proceedings.

Partner Testimonials

International Attorney, United States

John D
International Attorney, United States
Under Japan’s strict personal information protection laws, it is virtually impossible for U.S. attorneys and private investigators like us to gather evidence directly in Japan. Detective Agency Japan (Tantei Hojin Chosashikai) does far more than search databases. They are a genuine operational team that conducts lawful, on-the-ground investigations. Progress updates through regular online meetings are smooth and efficient, and the English-language reports they provide are of a quality well suited for use as evidence in court.

Corporate Risk Consultant, Singapore

Sarah L
Corporate Risk Consultant, Singapore
Our clients are eager to expand into the Japanese market, but assessing the actual creditworthiness and reliability of local businesses has always been a challenge. Since establishing an agency partnership with them, we have been able to respond immediately to client requests to investigate the backgrounds of Japanese companies by proposing high-quality investigation plans. Their commission payments are also highly transparent, making this partnership a new pillar of our business

Compensation & Payment Structure

Our Global Liaison Partner Program features a simple and transparent compensation structure. When an investigation service agreement is concluded between our company and a client referred by a partner, we pay a referral commission equal to 10% of the base investigation fee, excluding tax. Depending on the scale and complexity of the case, such as corporate due diligence or complex surveillance investigations, the commission may amount to several thousand U.S. dollars (USD) per case.

Please note:

  • Actual expenses, such as transportation costs, are excluded from the commission calculation.
  • Payment will be remitted promptly by the end of the month following the month in which the client’s investigation fee has been received in full. Transfers will be made in U.S. dollars (USD) or other applicable currencies to the designated bank account or through an international money transfer service such as Wise.

If you are considering using a private detective agency or an inquiry agency, it is recommended that you first clarify the purpose of your request and the necessary information before proceeding with consultations or entering into an engagement contract. Keep in mind that hiring a private investigator involves costs, so it is important to proceed only when you are satisfied with the fee. When used appropriately according to the purpose, investigative services can provide highly valuable information later on. Therefore, it is essential to have thorough discussions with the agency and aim to make a well-prepared, high-quality request.
